Actually, I’m glad that Elena chose Stefan for now, because it only increases our chances of DE being endgame. Elena herself pretty much confirmed that her choice isn’t forever. It’s just for now, and for right now, it is security and safety that she wants, which is all sorts of ironic considering it was Damon’s blood that saved her from perishing in the end, but safe and security are two important factors to Elena that she associates Stefan with. If the flashback is any indication though, it eventually won’t be enough for her; if you really didn’t catch the obvious foreshadowing of that, then I’ll feel sorry for you when the writers inevitably pull the rug out from under you. Enjoy your ship. I mean that sincerely. But this triangle is FAR from over.
