It seems like no matter what happens, no matter “when” we live, hiatus or not, people just can’t shut up about DE. Everybody loves them, everybody hates them, and everybody cares so much. Though I must say that the variety of all the ridiculous/stupid things I read about this ship is really impressive. “He’s making her uncomfortable, this is not romantic and perfect” is popular lately. This is cute, really. Dearest haters, let me remind you that not every damn scene is supposed to be “perfect and romantic”. Not everything is supposed to be cheesy. If you want cheese go buy yourself some. I suggest Gouda. I understand you, I really get it. You are mad, and you are jealous. If I was Stelena shipper I would be mad too. I would be mad if my ship had been canon for two seasons but people only cared about the opposite one. I would be mad if the interviewers didn’t ask the writers about my ship but asked about DE instead. “What’s going to happen between Damon and Elena?”, “Are we going to see things progressed between Damon and Elena?”, “What about Damon and Elena?”, “…Damon and Elena…”, “..Da… El…”. I would be mad if people jumped my ship for already enormous “team dark side” every time DE got “sorta kinda meaningful moment”. I would be mad if my ship kissed in every episode (tongues and action) but DE got “the best kiss” nomination for their peck on the lips. I get it. Everybody’s crazy about Delena. But YOU could have talked about YOUR ship, YOU could have cared about YOUR ship. Instead you waste your time talking about MINE and forgetting about yours. Cause probably my ship is much more fun to watch and discuss, right? You know what? Keep talking. You just bring Delena even more attention. A couple that has your attention, the one that makes everybody talk/discuss/fight/love/hate, the one that brings out emotions in people, this couple actually is the true otp material. Keep talking. As long as you can’t shut up about Damon and Elena, they’ll always be winning.
When people tell me "They're just fictional characters", I feel bad for that person because their imagination is so stunted that they can't feel the life breathing from the characters that are alive in ways they cannot ever understand.
